Make the Best Home the Most Affordable

True affordability is about more than the cost of a house—it’s about the cost of living. Geoship homes are designed for long-term savings with low maintenance, ultra-low energy costs, community gardens, walk-ability, and resource sharing. Our path to affordability starts with market rate homes, then scales through manufacturing efficiency and regenerative community architecture.

Pilot it

[01]

Founders Edition Domes: Market-Ready and Mission-Aligned

With early capital and community support, we launch the Amma Founders Edition — up to 100 premium signature domes. These modern natural homes offer high performance and sacred design for less than a typical California spec home. Each installation validates demand, covers baseline costs, and initiates pilot-scale production (10–100 homes/year), while refining our systems, logistics, and customer experience.

Nail it

[02]

Multiple Models: Accessible, Regenerative Living

With the pilot phase validated, we scale our first volume production facility — scaling from 100 to 1,000 domes per year. We introduce several Amma models at varying price points — all designed for resilience, beauty, and harmony. These domes roll out across California and into key national markets. Revenue from this phase drives operational scale and supply chain optimization, accelerating our path to affordability.

Scale it

[03]

Microfactories: The Engine of Mass Adoption

Through a network of regional microfactories serving local markets — we scale from 1,000 to 1,000,000 homes per year. Engineered from first principles, our technology slashes housing costs by 30–60%, while raising the bar in every category: health, sustainability, and climate resilience. As we grow, Geoship evolves into a perpetual purpose-driven trust and liquid democracy platform — continuing Buckminster Fuller’s mission: to make the world work for 100% of humanity.

Common Questions

What is Geoship, and what makes it different from other housing solutions?

Geoship is redefining housing with bioceramic dome homes that prioritize health, resilience, and sustainability. Our domes combine cutting-edge bioceramic materials with a unique geodesic design to deliver unmatched durability, affordability, and ease of assembly—all while being eco-friendly and future-focused.

What do the domes come equipped with?

Depending on your final order choices, you can opt for an open floor plan or a fully integrated home solution. Our fully integrated options include everything from windows and doors to appliances and finishes, all designed for optimal beauty and performance.

What’s included in the base price?

The base price covers everything you need: a high-performance dome with appliances, fixtures, storage, manufacturing, delivery, and installation. Land and sitework (like foundation and utilities) are excluded, as they vary by location. Dive into details at geoship.is/domes

What material are the domes made of?

Our domes are crafted from advanced bioceramic materials, primarily a magnesium phosphate compound with a composition similar to bone. This innovative, all-ceramic composite is stronger than concrete, highly durable, fireproof, mold-resistant, nontoxic, hypoallergenic, and antimicrobial, ensuring a healthy living environment. Made from raw earth minerals and natural fibers, it is completely free from petrochemicals, eliminating the need for conventional construction materials like roofing, insulation, and paint. We tailor bioceramic formulations for floors, exteriors, and interiors, sourcing raw ingredients locally to maintain quality and resilience against supply chain challenges.

Why are bioceramic domes non-toxic?

Unlike conventional homes that may use materials containing harmful chemicals, our domes are made entirely from non-toxic substances. We avoid any materials listed on the Living Futures Institute's "red list" of potentially toxic chemicals and are working towards certification with the Living Futures Institute and WELL standards.

What does "Bioceramic" mean?

Bioceramic refers to a new class of geopolymers that cure at room temperature and mimic natural chemical bonding processes, such as those found in seashells and bone structures. Unlike traditional ceramics that require high heat for curing, bioceramics are water-activated and harden quickly at room temperature. They are stronger than concrete, low carbon, highly crystalline, and biologically resonant with human physiology. Additionally, they form strong molecular bonds with various natural elements, including metals, cellulose, and all types of stone and cementitious materials.

What does First principles engineering mean?

First principles engineering involves breaking down complex problems into their most basic, fundamental components and then building solutions from the ground up. For us, this means rethinking every aspect of home construction to create a product that is not just a physical structure but an entire experience. By applying first principles, we ensure that our homes are affordable, beautiful, enduring, and integrated seamlessly into the lifecycle and interactions of their owners. This innovative approach transforms the entire process of owning a home, from buying and living in it to maintaining and eventually selling it.

How does the bioceramic material impact the environment compared to traditional building materials?

Our bioceramic material offers significant environmental benefits. It has a reduced carbon footprint compared to traditional building materials, making it more eco-friendly. Additionally, its exceptional durability ensures a longer lifespan for our domes, resulting in the use of fewer resources over time. At Geoship, we are committed to creating structures that are both innovative and sustainable, minimizing our impact on the planet.

Can Geoship domes withstand temperature extremes, including very cold climates?

Yes—Geoship domes are engineered to thrive in any climate, from icy Alaska to scorching deserts. With exceptional insulation (R-24 minimum) and near-zero air leakage, they keep you warm and energy-efficient even in the harshest winters. The uniform bioceramic structure expands and contracts as one, preventing cracks or leaks from temperature swings. Paired with an integrated HVAC system (ducted mini-split and ERV), your dome stays cozy in winter, cool in summer, and energy-efficient year-round. Additionally, the quick assembly process allows building during short weather windows, ensuring your home is ready when you are.

Can Geoship homes withstand extreme weather conditions (hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, wildfires, floods)?

Yes—Geoship homes are engineered to withstand extreme weather conditions, including hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, wildfires, and floods. The geodesic dome shape naturally deflects high winds and evenly distributes loads, making it highly resistant to structural failure during storms or seismic events. Built for a wide range of climates, including cold, desert, and tropical environments, the domes can handle heavy snow loads and seismic activity with ease.

What is the snow load capability?

Up to 300 pounds per square foot—ready for snowy regions!

What is the R-value and insulation of a Geoship dome?

Walls and ceilings start at R-24, with plans to boost that further. Our real superpower? Air-tightness (1 ACH vs. 4-7 in typical homes) that maximizes energy savings.

How are the domes sealed and are they waterproof?

The domes are sealed with bioceramic, an inorganic polymer that forms waterproof joints and has minimal thermal expansion, providing excellent protection against the elements.

Can the interior walls be painted and decorated?

Yes, the walls can be painted and are strong enough to hold screws. We also offer integral color options in a range of earth tones. Additionally, we’re exploring over-molding techniques to incorporate wood textures, patterns, or other unique finishes!

How well do Geoship dome homes block outside noise (like airplanes or highway traffic), and what is the impact of the hard bioceramic panels on interior sound and echo?

Acoustic performance is a key focus in our dome design. The unique geodesic shape naturally deflects external sounds—much like wind, noise flows around it—creating a quiet, insulated environment. To further enhance interior acoustics, we use cellular ceramic panels, acoustic absorbers, and a distinctive 3D faceting on the panels. This combination minimizes echoes and fosters a calm, balanced sound environment. While the dome’s shape may reflect sound near the peak, our thoughtful insulation and design effectively keep echoes in check.

How are electrical and plumbing routed within the structure?

Just like in a standard home, electrical and plumbing in our geodesic domes are routed through the walls and interstitial floor (or loft floor). This setup keeps utilities streamlined and accessible while preserving the dome's efficient and adaptable structure.

How can light levels and privacy be managed effectively through the windows?

Our domes offer both smart tint and mechanical blind options for adaptable light and privacy control. While they won’t last the dome’s full 500-year life, these systems are built for durability—around 20 years, with advancements likely extending that significantly in the future. This flexibility, paired with our dome's natural insulation and bioceramic materials, ensures a private, energy-efficient space that harmonizes beautifully with nature.

How customizable are the interiors and exteriors?

We start with a premium base offering, engineered for performance and health. As we grow, expect a range of options for interiors and exteriors. Take a look at our first model Amma options right here: https://www.geoship.is/domes

Is there a washer/dryer and laundry space?

Yes, a dedicated laundry space with hookups is ready for you.

What are the heating, cooling, and dehumidification options?

We provide a single, high-performance system: a ducted mini-split for heating and cooling, an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) with MERV 13 filters (upgradable to HEPA), and a heat pump water heater. This ensures top indoor air quality (IAQ) with pre-conditioned fresh air, avoiding CO buildup in our well-sealed domes.

Are Geoship domes off-grid capable?

Yes, though not immediately. Our domes are off-grid ready, and can be equipped with options like battery packs, water filtration and greywater recycling, indoor gardens, and waterless toilets. Stay tuned for updates as we roll out these features to bring regenerative living to life.

Can Geoship domes be integrated with solar panels and battery storage?

Yes! We are contracting local installers for ground-mounted solar arrays where required. We’re developing integrated solar panels and battery storage for future upgrades, ensuring you can add these without sacrificing initial usability.

What are the options for windows, doors, and skylights?

Geoship domes come standard with high-performance windows and doors designed to integrate seamlessly with the geodesic shell—offering durability, energy efficiency, and beauty. Skylights are currently in development and will be available as add-ons in the near future. As we scale, more customizable options for sizes, styles, and placements of windows, doors, and skylights will be introduced based on customer feedback and regional requirements.

Can I connect multiple domes together?

Absolutely! Our designs make it possible to connect multiple domes, creating endless possibilities for unique configurations and dome constellations. While this feature is not available yet, we’re actively working on it and plan to go to market with a set catalog of configurations to start, with more options to follow based on demand.

Can the domes have more than one story?

Yes, certain models feature an integrated loft, allowing for additional living space.

What is the typical lifespan of a Geoship dome structure?

Geoship domes are designed to stand the test of time. Thanks to the durability of the bioceramic material and the strength of the geodesic design, you can expect a Geoship dome to last for generations with a design life estimated to last up to 500 years. It’s not just a house; it’s a legacy.

Can I buy the bioceramic material by itself?

Currently, we don't offer our bioceramic material separately. It's a product we've developed and are continuously refining specifically for our domes.
